The health of your equine is reflected in their feet.
This workshop is relevant whether your horse is barefoot or shod. Healthy hooves are healthy hooves!
The morning will be spent looking into the anatomy and function of the equine foot. The focus will be on recognising and achieving healthy feet. We will also look into common foot problems and how to deal with them.
We will also be discussing what defines a healthy horse, which leads into ethology. By looking at equines from an evolutionary and ethological (the study of animals in their natural environment) perspective we can begin to understand what is healthy and normal. We can then apply a whole horse approach to equine health and well being.
The afternoon is focused on simplifying the complexities relating to foot health, paying particular attention to the role of obesity and the associated metabolic/endocrine disorders. It will enable you to recognise the early warning signs of potential problems and give positive ideas and solutions on how to deal with them.
Questions welcome throughout the day.
